Bridgestone bicycle history4/2/2023 The client was looking for a reliable, but relatively low-key build that wouldn't be a theft magnet, thus the all-black and silver color theme. This build was commissioned as a light tourer/randonneur build, mainly for weekend bike camping trips in the Bay Area. One notable feature is the beautiful, yet understated sloping, lugged fork crown. These Bridgestones come from an era in which frames were still being manufactured in Japan, with top notch craftsmanship and resilient paint jobs. The lugwork is solid, as is the tubing (4130 EX). One dead give away is the lack of rack braze-ons, both below the rear brake bridge and on the mid-fork. Many people mistake this bike for a loaded tourer, but in reality, it's geometry and clearances are better-suited for cyclocross. This particular model, the '91, was designed for light touring and randonneur trips. The RB-T, brainchild of cycle culture legend Grant Peterson (founder of Rivendell bikes), has somewhat of a cult following these days, and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
